Long weekend is coming

Dear readers,

I’m not here for long today because I have to prepare a schedule for a long weekend. It is just three days so we must spend them the best we can. Unfortunately, it’s kind of difficult to plan something this year because weather forecast is not very promising. Not to mention that at the beginning of April I was planning to try some camping. Sleeping in a tent must be extremely exciting but when I imagine that the temperature will reach even 0°C there’s nothing to laugh about.

Just a little digression about last week’s speedway: it was a total disaster. The worst tournament I have ever taken part in. Well, that’s all I can say about it. For people who are curious why I am so disappointed I attach the link where you can read about Polish Speedway Grand Prix:

Have a nice evening!

LOTTO Warsaw FIM Speedway Grand Prix of Poland

Hi guys,

Last time I told you that I will explain to you why I had been so excited lately. You have the answer in the title of this post. This weekend I’m going to Warsaw. I think that for me it will be the most important event this year. It’ll be the last individual tournament of Tomasz Gollob in World Championship. He’s 44 years old now so he’s on the edge of his professional career. I’m very excited because I’ve been waiting for this event for a long time (I bought the tickets last year) but I also know that it’ll be extremely difficult for me as so far I’m not ready to imagine speedway without Tomasz. My friends and I have already prepared the occasional T-shirts with the picture and the title – Tomasz Gollob – World Champion. I’m really looking forward to this tournament because this is the first time that we have such a huge event in the history of Polish speedway. It’s organized on the National Stadium in Warsaw so there’ll be like 50 thousand people shouting, cheering and having fun at the same time. We can expect as well that many fans will be crying cause it’s really the end of the particular ere. All the Polish spectators hope that Tomasz is capable to win his last tournament but it won’t be easy. Nowadays, there are so many talented young speedway-riders who could ruin all the hopes. However, it doesn’t matter for me what the final result would be. Even if Tomasz loses, I’ll be very satisfied.

Just can’t wait until tomorrow…

World Champion

Hello everyone,

It’s me again. I have good news: it’s Easter. I was really looking forward to spending this time with my family that’s why I’m so happy. But there is one more reason why I’m excited. Three days ago, there was a meeting with the best Polish speedway-rider – Tomasz Gollob. I told you a little bit about him in my last post but that time spent with him was absolutely amazing. He is really my favourite sportsman. The appointment was organized in Empik in Bydgoszcz. In the first place, Tomasz was telling how the book about him was created and then he was patiently answering the questions. I was totally thrilled. He is the most interesting person I have ever met. He deserved to become the World Champion in his twenties but he had to wait nearly 20 years to finally put the crown on his head. What took him so long? It’s just because he is not very lucky and as the speedway is a very dangerous sport, in the decisive moments he got badly injured.

The second part of the meeting which I liked the most consisted of signing the books by our champion and taking photos with him. My friends and I decided to wait until the end in order to have the opportunity to talk to Tomasz a little longer than others so we stood at the end of the queue. It was absolutely amazing to hear from my greatest idol that he remembers me. When I was in high school, seven years ago, I made an interview with him. We fixed the appointment in one of the most elegant cafes in Bydgoszcz where we were talking for a while about his career and about winning the bronze medal in Grand Prix cycle. I was so surprised that he was able to mention nearly all the details about this conversation. Additionally, when he looked at my friends, he told that he remembered us from the stadiums when we were shouting his name. It was such an extraordinary feeling to be kept in mind of our champion. He asked me as well if I would be willing to teach him French after the end of his professional career. That could be even more exciting for me.

After this amazing adventure, I came back home and described the whole situation to my nearest and dearest. I’m sure that it wasn’t the last occasion to talk to Tomasz in real because he’s the one that I appreciate the most and I will try hard to catch the contact with him as often as possible. Now I’m waiting impatiently for 18th of April. Why? You will find out in my next post on my blog.
Bye!
